Today I’m super excited to be sharing a recipe, using just 3 ingredients called The Bounty Bars. On the occasion of World Chocolate Day, I thought of surprising my son with these most popular chocolates. Just in case you’ve never had bounty bars, let me explain it to you “A bounty bar is a candy bar with a soft, sweet coconut center covered in chocolate. They are also known as mound bars.
These coconut stuffed chocolate bars are super easy to make and your kids also love them. The crunchy chocolate layer encapsulates the soft and sweet coconut filling just like store-bought Coconut Bounty Bars. In this blog, I have tried to show step by step process of making BOUNTY chocolate at home. You can also shape them in round balls and make coconut bounty bites.
This homemade chocolate bar is delicious and easy to make with common ingredients. Here you can use any chocolate for making the chocolate coated coconut recipe. There is no cooking in this recipe – just mix the ingredients, shape them in bars, dip them in the melted chocolate, let them freeze…and you’re done!

Ingredients Checklist:
How to make Bounty Bars:
Step1: In a large bowl add 2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut.
Step2: Add 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk in parts.
Step3: Using spatula mix both the ingredients together until fully combined.
Step4: Add remaining condensed milk and mix until you get a thick and sticky mixture.
Step5: Take some portion into your palm and press them to form a bar. Press very well so that the mixture is smooth and there are no big cracks/seams in it.
Step6: Press the bar between the palm to flatten it a bit. Then using your finger shape them into rectangle bars.
Step7: Prepare the remaining bars in the same way and place them on a parchment paper. This recipe will make 8 bounty bars. You may half or double the recipe accordingly.
Step8: Refrigerate them for 30-60 minutes or until they are very firm and set.
Step9: Once you are ready to dip them in chocolate. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or a glass bowl on top of a small saucepan filled with a cup of water over medium heat. Alternatively, you may also microwave in microwaveable bowls heating in 30-second intervals, and stir until completely smooth.
Step10: Once completely melted, mix well and turn off the heat. Set aside to cool down a bit for 1-2 minutes before using it for coating.
Step11: Dip each coconut bar in the chocolate mixture until they are fully coated and transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Coat the remaining bars in the melted chocolate.
Step12: Place in the fridge for 20-30 minutes before serving. Keep refrigerated for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2 months.
Step13: Once the chocolate sets, the bounty bars are ready to enjoy. Keep any leftovers in the fridge and serve them cold directly from the fridge.

Tips:
- Adjust the sweetness by adding little less condensed milk, but make sure the mixture is binding very well or else use unsweetened condensed milk.
- Instead of choco chips, you can also melt the high-quality dark chocolate.
- Instead of making bars separately you can also add the mixture in the mold or rectangle box and press firmly in place then freeze them to set. Later on, cut them in bar shapes then coat them in melted chocolate.
- You can also shape them in round balls and make coconut bounty bites.
