Bataka (aloo) poha is a very famous breakfast or snacks recipe made up of pressed rice, potatoes, onions, and spices and is a quick and easy meal to whip up once you have all the ingredients. This particular bataka poha recipe is made by washing the poha twice and mixing it with tempering of few ingredients which tastes awesome.

Ingredients:
- 2 cup poha (Medium thickness)
- 1 medium size potato chopped (Cubes)
- 1 medium size onion finely chopped
- 1-2 green chilly finely chopped
- Handful of fresh coriander leaves
- 2-3 teaspoon roasted peanuts
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 6-7 curry leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt as per taste
- 1-2 teaspoon oil
- Farsan (Namkeen) as per your taste
How to make Bataka (aloo) Poha:
Step1: Firstly, take a strainer, into it add poha and wash poha twice by gently swifting them using fingers under running water.Drain extra water through the strainer. Poha should be moist not mashed. Sprinkle turmeric powder, sugar and salt as per your taste. Mix/toss lightly and set it aside for about 5-10 minutes.
Step2: In the meanwhile we will saute the potato cubes. You can even cook potatoes along with onion but this process will make the potato crispy.
Add 1 teapoon oil in a heated pan, then add chopped potato and saute it for 4-5 minutes on low-medium flame till the outer layer is crispy and is soft from inside (Check using fork if its done). Once done remove on a plate.
Step3: In the same pan and add 1 teaspoon oil, once oil is heated add mustard seed and cumin seeds, let them crackle. Then add curry leaves along with chopped onion and green chilly, saute it for 3-4 minutes till the onion is translucent.
Step4: Once onions as done reduce the flame to low and add soaked poha and mix well with onion mixture. Cook till the poha is heated then add fried potato.Mix everything well, check and adjust sugar and salt as per your taste. Turn off the flame.
Then finally add in some lemon extracted juice all over, mix and let it covered for couple of minutes. (Note: You can even use green peas, cashew and pomegranate seeds in the poha as per your choice.)
Add roasted peanuts. Bataka poha is ready. Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and farsan of your choice. Serve it with tea.
