If you are looking for a alcoholic pina colada recipe, you’re welcome to just mix the white rum and maybe just add in a bit of extra pineapple juice or coconut water to help the mixture blend.
To make it more creamy I have added 2-3 tablespoon of whipping cream while blending which is totally optional but it gives a nice creamy texture to the drink. Also some people like to added coconut cream instead of coconut milk. But personally I like coconut milk in my drink.

How to make Virgin Pina Colada:
Step1: Gather all the ingredients. Place 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks and ice at the bottom of a blending jar. Add 1/4 cup of granulated sugar (or brown sugar) along with 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream. You may adjust the sweetness as per your taste.
Step2: Pour 1/2 cup pineapple juice, 1/2 cup coconut water and 1 cup canned coconut milk over the top. Use less coconut water and pineapple juice for a thicker shake and more for a thinner consistency.
Step3: Cover blender with lid and blend until the mixture is very smooth.
Step4: Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh pineapple wedges etc. Enjoy!
- Use chilled coconut milk for making this recipe. It will give a creamy texture.
- You may also use fresh pineapple chunks, in that case just add more ice-cubes.
- This recipe easily doubles and triples if needed.
- To make it alcoholic, simply add some white rum of your choice.
- Shake canned coconut milk before opening it because it likes to separate.
- Consume Pina colada fresh as after sometime coconut milk starts to separate.
